Spartan FC, a competitive youth soccer club serving Northbrook and surrounding communities, is pleased to announce a significant and positive development in its soccer program. Beginning with the fall 2015 season, Spartan FC, which operates the Spartan FC U8-U11 soccer program and the FC-1 boys U12-U18 program, will affiliate with FC United, the North Shore’s premier competitive youth soccer program for players U12 through U18. This means that starting in fall 2015, Spartan FC will no longer operate the FC-1 boys program, and the preferred path for Spartan FC boys and girls players beyond the U11 age group will be FC United, rather than FC-1. This change will have no impact whatsoever on Spartan FC players at the U8 through U11 levels. Likewise, this affiliation will not impact the day-to-day operations of Spartan FC, which will continue to operate independently from FC United.
In speaking with FC United’s leadership in recent months, it became clear that they share with Spartan FC a core vision of creating an environment and culture that maximizes player development and the overall soccer experience through the building of friendships and being part of a community-based organization. Spartan FC and FC United also share a similar soccer curriculum, which will facilitate a seamless transition for our players as they move from U11 to U12 and beyond. This was a decision that our Board of Directors did not take lightly, but as the North Shore’s soccer landscape continues to evolve, a partnership with FC United is a natural and positive next step as we continually strive to improve the quality of soccer instruction in the Northbrook community. It is our desire to provide the absolute best future development opportunities for our players.
